In the face of death threats, thousands of people gathered in Sydney this weekend to rally in defence of women’s sport and to restore reality to the Sex Discrimination Act.

The threats were such that Sall Grover was unable to attend because of safety concerns, and News24’s Jaimie Rogers pointed out the irony that:

“A woman campaigning to protect female-only spaces says she doesn't feel safe enough to attend a women's rights rally.”

I also reported death threats to the police, but felt I should still attend and speak up.

I’m glad I did.

Those in attendance showed resolve and determination that despite all the attacks, the fundamental truths about women and men remain the same.

We are not going to back down, and, as this rally demonstrated, we’re not alone.
