Zara’s detransition story
I met Zara in New Zealand at the Forum on the Family Conference. It is where her story was heard for the first time. She and fellow detransitioner Issy were met with great love and compassion by the 650 strong crowd.
The medical industry along with a broken education system facilitated the great lie that she could change sex if she took drugs and subjected herself to deceptive practices. She was manipulated and misled but thankfully she came to the realisation that she couldn’t change her sex before it was too late.

When Zara was 13, she started 'socially transitioning' to be a male with a changed name and 'preferred pronouns'. By the time she was 15, she was on puberty blockers. When she was 16, she was on testosterone. With the help of the public health system, she had 'top surgery' lined up for when she was 18-years-old. She was told that if she said she was suicidal, it would help get her through the system quickly - so she did exactly what they told her to do.
