A Victorian organisation called Women’s Action Group hosted a ‘Women Will Speak’ event on the steps of Parliament House in Melbourne over the weekend. Approximately 20 women attended to assert the fact no one can change sex, children cannot consent to puberty blockers and women’s rights are being eroded.

In a stunning display of violence and intimidation, Trans Queer Solidarity, a trans activist group, turned up with 150 people screaming obscenities, threats and taking violent action. One woman was arrested from the group and police were required to protect the Women’s Action Group from the protestors who insist men can be women.

“Around 20 participants initially attended the event about 11am. About 150 protesters from another group also attended the rally, throwing eggs and water balloons at the speakers involved,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

A 36-year-old Brunswick woman was arrested at the scene for allegedly assaulting police. She has been released pending further inquiries.

“Victoria Police is disappointed with the actions of the group and while it supports peaceful protests it has a zero-tolerance policy for violence or disruptive acts which impact the broader community.”

It is utterly appalling that women in 2024 cannot assemble publicly to discuss female sex-based rights and child protection without threats from violent males and their supporters. For women to require police protection in this day and age, when they are simply advocating for women, is a damning indictment on how serious this issue has become. 

Politicians, the courts and the media have all contributed to this shameful reality. No one can change their sex. It is a lie to claim they can. To impose this lie on society is harming women and children beyond description. 

Well done to the brave women who took a stand at great risk to their personal safety. 

It is a terrible shame that it even needs to be done. 

It is beyond belief that police resources must be employed to protect women from aggressive males who wish they were women.
