UK Supreme Court rules that reality was right all along
Women are biological females that deserve sex-based protections in law
Once upon a time, not that long ago, racism and slavery were “legal.” Both practices were legally protected and even promoted.
Then, because of great activists like William Wilberforce and Martin Luther King, those travesties were reversed and reality won the day.
No human could be denied agency under law because of the colour of their skin or their ethnicity.
Reality and dignity won the day.
Today in the UK, great women like Dr Helen Joyce and author JK Rowling will go down in history as women who saved the day.
The UK Supreme court has been forced to clarify that under law women are biological females who deserve sex-based rights.
It comes after a decade of women’s rights being systematically erased by men who want to render the word ‘woman’ meaningless.
Claiming that “transwomen are women”, is the same as saying “men are women”. Those making such statements now have egg on their faces.
And many will no doubt be left shaking in their boots as women take legal action against those who bullied them into submission.
For Women Scotland (FWS) took on the government for their appalling position that allowed males access to female sex-based services, spaces and sport - and they won!
"The unanimous decision of this court is that the terms 'women' and 'sex' in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological woman and biological sex," deputy president of the Supreme Court Patrick Hodge said.
Aidan O'Neill, a lawyer for FWS, told the Supreme Court judges — three men and two women — that under the Equality Act, "sex" should refer to biological sex and as understood "in ordinary, everyday language."
"Our position is your sex, whether you are a man or a woman or a girl or a boy is determined from conception in utero, even before one's birth, by one's body," he said.
It is the only sane and reasonable position.
It is the only position backed by evidence and reality.
Human sex is determined before birth and cannot be changed. Anyone who wishes to identify as something else can do so, but they cannot impose their deception onto others.
Here in Australia, we are still suffering under the weight of laws that should be relegated to the realm of nightmarish fairytales.
In Australia, men who claim to *feel* like women (how is that even possible?), have more legal protections than women.
We can take heart that in the USA and now the UK, laws have been reset to reflect reality and protect women on the basis of sex.
We still have a long way to go in Australia, but if we keep speaking the truth and holding our leaders accountable, it’s only a matter of time before we turn it around here too.
