The MAD bill that limits freedom of speech

‘Incredibly dangerous’: Albanese’s misinformation bill likened to ‘1984’

Despite opposition to the Misinformation and Disinformation Bill, aptly abbreviated to the MAD bill, it has passed the lower house with all of Labor and the Teals voting to censor Australians and make sure the government is the sole arbiter of ‘truth’.

Nationals MP Keith Pitt has likened the Albanese Labor government’s proposed misinformation legislation to George Orwell’s book '1984'.

“Who in this place and in this country would think that part of that dystopian fiction – an absolute work of fiction – would be implemented by the Albanese government, in terms of the Ministry of Truth?” Mr Pitt said in the House of Representatives on Thursday.

“The idea, even the concept that a public servant in a department will determine what a fact is and whether someone can have that opinion and whether they can have that reasonable belief is a yawning chasm – it is incredibly dangerous to this country.”

It was conveniently rammed through as all eyes were on the US elections that saw Donald Trump re-elected and the Republicans gain control of all levels of government.

The MAD Bill will severely limit free speech and punish those who oppose government policy if they choose.

Everyday Australians who know that people cannot change sex, and men don’t belong in women’s spaces, sports or services run the risk of falling foul of the new law if passed in the Senate as well.

The law in Australia has no protections for the sex-based rights of women as it is. Under this bill anyone who attempts to uphold the reality of biological sex could face severe consequences.

Labor knows that Australians are turning their backs on their woke agenda and are running scared in the lead up to the next federal election. They were dealt a severe blow in the recent Queensland state election and have taken note of what is happening around the world as voters reject the far-left agenda.

This bill will not bode well for our freedoms in the lead up to the next election as the government will have the power to silence opposition.

This is a very concerning moment for all Australians as truth will no longer be based on fact but on what threatens the government. I for one will not comply.
