Reem Alsalem defends women at the UN

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls calls out the harms of redefining language

Reem Alsalem has served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls since 2021.

She advocates for the reality of biological sex over and above the fantasy of gender ideology.

She repeatedly defends the fact it is female biology and anatomy that puts females at risk, not feelings or fantasy.

Recently she told the UN that erasing or redefining language regarding women and girls is causing harm.

"Erasing women and women-specific language and needs based on their sex is not only wrong, but also demeaning, regressive and constitutes one of the worst forms of violence that women and girls can experience," @UNSRVAW Reem Alsalem told the @UN Human Rights Council.

Alsalem speaks plainly and clearly in defense of women.

Her advocacy is not transphobic or bigoted, it is rooted in reality and backed by evidence-based science. She is no-nonsense and courageous in her statements.

The consequences of this blatant disregard of the material reality of sex have been devastating: the erosion of women and sex-specific language, the conflation of sex, gender and gender identity have produced flawed data, overall weaken protections for motherhood, women and girls including lesbians and women who do not identify as women and girls who may be experiencing gender dysphoria.

It has also obscured the correct understanding of current and emerging forms of violence against women and girls, and exposed women and girls to more violence, and undermined our ability to provide targeted and relevant services and assistance to all victims.

Simply put, you cannot protect what you cannot define.”

It is way beyond time for governments to do the right thing and restore reality based language and laws for the protection of women and children.
