No more males in Women’s International Cricket

International women’s cricket will now be females only. The ICC has said no to males in female divisions, but only at an international level. It is still up to national organisations to implement their own policies.

In a statement released on Tuesday morning, the governing body concluded that they had made the decision following a nine-month consultation process to protect the safety of female players.

The statement read: 'The new policy is based on the following principles (in order of priority), protection of the integrity of the women’s game, safety, fairness and inclusion, and this means any Male to Female participants who have been through any form of male puberty will not be eligible to participate in the international women’s game regardless of any surgery or gender reassignment treatment they may have undertaken.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice noted that while inclusivity is an important value, protecting the safety and integrity of women’s cricket was a higher value. He also stated that science matters.

The changes to the gender eligibility regulations resulted from an extensive consultation process and is founded in science and aligned with the core principles developed during the review.

Danielle McGahey is an Australian born male playing for the Canadian women’s team. He will no longer be eligible to play at international level.

Cricket, athletics, cycling, swimming and both rugby codes have now banned males from female divisions, but only at elite levels. They employ the science and reality for elite athletes, but deny the science and reality at community level.

According to these codes the mantra “transwomen are women” holds true until they are elite, then it becomes “transwomen are male”.

The double standards are ridiculous. Either they are males or they are not. We all know they are.

So why allow males to participate at any level of women’s sport?

It is unfair, unsafe and unscientific. It reveals a deep level of hypocrisy and misogyny.

No one wants to ban trans players; it is simply about making sure everyone is participating according to biology, not ideology.
