MALE AND FEMALE. LET’S MAKE IT LAW.
Most Australians assume the law protects women and girls based on biological sex.
It doesn’t.
In 2013, the Sex Discrimination Act was quietly changed. “Gender identity” was added and defined in detail. But “male” and “female” were never defined at all.
That single change is at the root of everything we’ve been fighting.
Biological men in women's change rooms. Males in women’s sport. Parents told they have no right to question their child’s “gender identity”.
It all traces back to a law that no longer says what a woman is.
It’s time to change that.
We are calling on the Prime Minister and the federal Minister for Women to define male and female in law based on biological sex – and to stop gender identity overriding the protections women and children were always meant to have.
Sign the petition and help us fix the law that started all of this.

To Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Minister for Women Senator Katy Gallagher
The Sex Discrimination Act 1984 was created to protect Australians – especially women and girls – based on biological sex.
But “male” and “female” have never been defined in the Act. And since 2013, “gender identity” has been given separate legal protection that can override sex-based rights.
This is unacceptable.
Women and girls deserve legal protections based on biological reality, not ideology.
I call on you to amend the Sex Discrimination Act to:
- Define male and female based on biological sex
- Ensure gender identity cannot override sex-based protections for women, children and families
Our laws must reflect reality.
Male and female. Let’s make it law.
