It is now legal to lie and rewrite history in NSW
It is now legal to lie and rewrite history in NSW. From July 1, 2025, anyone in NSW can rewrite the facts of their birth on official identity documents such as a birth certificate.
You can’t lie about your age, place of birth, or your heritage but you can lie about the reality of your biological sex. This is despite the fact no one can change sex, even if a piece of paper states you have. This law is now in effect throughout all Australian states.
The new laws not only allow males to identify as female, but it grants them uninhibited access to female spaces, sport and services. Penalties apply to those who refuse to accept the lie written on a piece of paper.
Protections for females according to sex reality no longer exist.
Trans activists are celebrating the new laws as a victory, despite women and children being the most obvious losers.
ACON CEO Michael Woodhouse said the laws were the result of years of hard work to better protect the lives and families of LGBTQIA+ people.
“Being able to live and be legally recognised as your authentic self is critical to long-term health and wellbeing,” he said. “The updated laws will remove cruel and unnecessary barriers of gender recognition for trans and gender diverse people, better protect LGBTQ+ people from being ‘outed’ without consent, removes language which stigmatises people living with HIV and better recognises parents in families formed through surrogacy.”
It is ridiculous to claim that living under a lie and deception equals being your “authentic self”. There is nothing authentic about claiming to be someone you can never be.
It is cruel to lie. It is cruel to promise something that can never be achieved regardless of the stroke of a pen. No human can change their sex.
This law creates barriers, it doesn’t remove them. It means anyone critical of gender ideology, anyone who adheres to reality and evidence-based science faces greater risks of penalties.
As for surrogacy, it is the buying and selling of babies and ought to be abhorrent in civil societies that should project children, not treat them as commodities.
This law is dreadful for NSW and does not change the facts one iota. It is simply evidence of how far our politicians have fallen when it comes to truth and the protection of the most vulnerable members of our society.
