Drag artist Dandrogyny will be reading books to little children

Awww, how sweet, a story time for kids. Except, well, it is not that sweet.

As a part of the Midsumma Festical in Melbourne the State Library will be hosting a Drag Time Story event for children and a disco.

Drag artist Dandrogyny will be reading stories to the children. This is a photo from his own Instagram page that appeared when I searched his name.

Join us every Monday and Wednesday in late January as LGBTQIA+ authors, performers and community members share their favourite stories – and join in to sing some rainbow-themed songs and rhymes.

The special guests who will be taking over our regular Storytime sessions as part of Midsumma include:

Dancer-choreographer Raina Peterson on Monday 22 January, 10.30 - 11.00am

Magician Em Chandler on Wednesday 24 January, 10.30 - 11.00am

Writer Jasper Peach on Monday 29 January, 10.30 - 11.00am

Drag artist Dandrogyny on Wednesday 31 January, 10.30 - 11.00am

Perfect for kids aged 0-8. All Storytime sessions will be Auslan interpreted.

You have to ask, “Why do these hypersexualised caricatures want an audience with children?”

Why does the Victorian State Library think this is an appropriate use of tax-payer funds?
