Book Launch Devastated: how gender ideology is tearing Australian families apart

Parents and professionals shared their stories at Parliament House in Canberra

Senator Alex Antic sponsored the launch of Devastated: How gender ideology is tearing Australian families apart, in Parliament House Canberra last week.

The first book project by Binary Australia contains the accounts of nine families whose lives have been devastated by the betrayal of government policies, the health and education systems. Spokeswoman for Binary, Kirralie Smith hosted the event.

Three parents spoke at the event, often moving the audience to tears with their accounts of children, and in one case a spouse, who have been deceived and harmed by gender ideology.

The entire audience was captivated by Tess’s account of the harm done to her daughter as she began navigating this nightmare 8 years ago. Her daughter had displayed zero signs of gender incongruence growing up and Tess described how her daughter was ‘groomed’ online and at school to get access to government assistance and intervention. Tess did what any other ordinary Australian mum would do in seeking professional help, only to be lied to, deceived and ultimately betrayed by a system that cared nothing for truth, reality or her daughter’s wellbeing.

Judith shared her family's heartbreaking account of losing her daughter to a system that disregarded her daughter’s mental health and displayed utter contempt toward her loving and caring family.

Gasps were heard as Juith recounted slurs medical practitioners made to her face, accusing her of being “transphobic” and “a bigot” for questioning the affirmation model.

She was asked whether she wanted a ‘live son or a dead daughter’, which she utterly rejected.

Members of the audience were moved to tears when they heard about the devastating physical consequences and mental harm done to her daughter in the name of gender ideology.

Melinda shared her incredible struggle of being married to a man who sank into deep depression as he began appropriating female sex-based stereotypes.

She mourned the loss of her marriage and shared the understandable fears she held for her children.

Her frustration with a legal system that is heavily biased toward gender ideology saw her lose her vulnerable children as well, with her daughter now identifying as male.

Professor Dianna Kenny contributed two chapters to Devasted and shared sobering facts and statistics with the audience who were left shaking their heads at the sorry state of affairs too many families and practitioners are now facing.

In the midst of hearing all these harrowing stories from real Australian families, many Senators were prevented from attending due to the Labor government trying to ram through more than 30 bills on the final sitting day of the year.

Dr David Gillespie MP, Member for Lyne, was able to attend and shared heartfelt thoughts from his professional experience as a medical practitioner and a politician on the front line.
