Tess, the mother of a trans-identified daughter, has spoken to James Macpherson on Sky about her horrifying experience with a system that utterly betrayed her family.

In an emotional interview with James Macpherson on Sky News, Tess described the process they went through after being told their daughter was now their ‘son’.  Like any good parent, Tess tried to seek professional advice and care for her daughter. 

Instead, she was confronted with an “affirmation” only approach that ignored her daughter’s trauma and underlying issues. Tess was accused of being transphobic and bigoted, and an abusive parent, for not affirming her daughter’s ‘male’ identity.

Like many other parents, she was asked, “would you rather a live son or a dead daughter?” 

Mounting evidence now reveals that rates of depression and suicidal ideation increase after these treatments, not decrease.

Tess has endured the horror of activists attempting to forcibly remove her daughter from their home, being ignored by the police, and eventually losing her daughter to a very messed up system.
