2700 Victorians have taken the opportunity to rewrite historical facts
More than 2700 people, including children, have taken the opportunity to rewrite historical facts in the state of Victoria. They can now lie about their biological sex and legally claim to be something they are not.
Up to 43 per cent of the people changed their gender from male to female, 33 per cent changed from female to male and the 25 per cent changed their identity to other.
The males who identify as female, even though they are male, can now access female spaces, services and sport without being legally challenged, putting women and children at risk of harm, humiliation or inequitable situations.
Males can be housed in female prisons, access rape crisis services for women, demand access to changerooms and sporting competitions that ought to be sex-segregated due to privacy, dignity, fairness and safety concerns.
Very rarely do females identifying as males demand such things, as there is a clear risk to their safety if they do.
Females identifying as males pose little to no risk when it comes to fairness on the sporting field and many contact sports ban females from participating as male although they do allow males to compete as female.
In order to lie on identity documents about historical fact and biological reality all a Victorian needs to do is sign a statutory declaration.
According to the laws, applicants are required to sign a statutory declaration affirming that they believe the gender they have specified in their application is their true gender.
Children are able to change their sex with the consent of a parent or guardian.
Similar laws now exist in most states of Australia or are currently being introduced.
