Tasmanian Politicians to vote on the removal of gender from birth certificates.

Tasmania is getting ready to vote on abolishing gender from birth certificates. The proposal will most likely be voted on in November in the lower house.

The Daily Mail has reported that, “Christian groups and feminists fear the bill has been 'hijacked' by the transgender lobby through a series of Labor and Greens amendments.”

The essence of the amendments are to remove the requirement for sex change surgery as a condition of recognition, and to remove gender completely from birth certificates.

Kirralie Smith, Binary spokeswoman, is very concerned about the proposed changes. She said, “Biological sex is relevant, essential and important for health care, security issues, education, public service, criminal investigations among other things. Removing or diminishing biological sex will have serious, far-reaching consequences.”
