Gender-bender Santa wearing fishnets

A shopping centre in Auckland, New Zealand has erected a gender-bending Santa wearing fishnet stockings. The statue is also meant to appropriate Mary Poppins.

The NZ Herald reports, “The creators said the new ‘Mary Poppins Santa’ is set to put a fresh perspective on the gender diversity conversation. "Our representation of Santa can be Mary Poppins or whatever race/gender/persuasion we prefer and can imagine. The Coca-Cola company doesn't have a monopoly on what he/she looks like," they said.

Binary spokeswoman, Kirralie Smith is surprised at the blatant activism on display. “What parent would be rushing to have their child sit on the knee of a gender-bending Santa dressed in fishnet stockings and exposed underwear?”

Concerned, Smith said, “Why do these activists want to sexualise our kids? Santa is primarily aimed at very young children and this is extremely inappropriate. People parading around in public wearing fishnet stockings and underwear is not something men or women would normally do.”

Smith warns not to under-estimate the deliberate targeting of children with this kind of stunt. “Santa and Mary Poppins are much loved and well-recognised characters for kids. Any attempt to adulterate or recreate them is an attempt to indoctrinate children into radical gender ideology.”
