Choose to Challenge
International Women's Day (IWD) is March 8, 2021. Their theme this year is #ChooseToChallenge.
A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.
We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
To join the campaign they suggest a photo of you raising your hand and using the hashtag #ChooseToChallenge make a comment about “inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world.”
It is amusing that challenging gender stereotypes is one of the suggestions, considering that the website says all gender identities are welcome.
Men who identify as women will be accepted and even ‘celebrated’ on IWD. Even though the best a man can ever do is imitate, impersonate or pretend to be a woman. No male on earth has ever become female – all he can do is reinforce rigid stereotypical appearances to make believe he has.
A woman who identifies as a man can also be ‘celebrated’ on IWD. Even though the best she can do is adhere to the rigid male stereotype of appearance because she can never actually become a man. She can mutilate her body by removing perfectly healthy breasts, she can take testosterone, every single day for the rest of her life, but never produce enough to get the desired affect of appearing like a man.
Kirralie Smith, Binary spokeswoman, suggests women everywhere join the campaign with comments such as the following:
"Appearances don't make a woman. There are unlimited expressions of womanhood, but we are all bound together by the lived experience of our xx chromosomes, hormone production, and our amazing reproductive system!" #choosetochallenge #binary
Biology, not ideology, defines women. #choosetochallenge #binary
Only females should participate in women's sport #choosetochallenge #binary
Feelings do not define a woman, lived experience as a female does. #choosetochallenge #binary
Wearing a dress doesn't magically make you a woman #choosetochallenge #binary
Wearing make-up doesn't make you a woman #choosetochallenge #binary
Only women can breastfeed #choosetochallenge #binary
Only women get pregnant #choosetochallenge #binary
Only women have periods #choosetochallenge #binary
