Censorship stupidity

The censors at Twitter continue to display sheer arrogance, and ignorance, when it comes to wielding the cancellation sceptre.

The Vox party’s Francisco José Contreras MP was temporarily suspended by Twitter for his response to a news article that claimed a pregnant man gave birth to a child.

Contreras’ tweet, which read “That’s a lie. A man cannot get pregnant. A man has neither uterus nor ovaries”, prompted the platform to take action in a debate that has become increasingly prominent in Spain.

Twitter claimed the MP’s tweet had broken its policies tackling “hate, threats, harassment, and/or fomenting violence against people” based on “race, origin, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religion, age, disability, or illness.”

Contreras, who is deputy leader of Vox and a professor of legal philosophy, said the decision to suspend him was “fascist biology” and that next time he would try “2+2=4” with Twitter staff.

Kirralie Smith, spokeswoman for Binary, said it was absurd.

“No one at twitter, or on earth for that matter, can prove that anyone but females give birth. No amount of feelings, or meaningless insistence, or drugs or surgeries can change the facts. Males produce sperm, females produce eggs. Women get pregnant and give birth. Changing the language doesn’t change the reality of this.”
