An Australian study claims there are 30 genders.

A new Australian Study claims there are 30 genders. The research was apparently based on Queensland University of Technology's Australian Sex Survey.

That survey originally listed 33 genders. In contrast, Facebook lists more than 70 gender options, and Tumblr has over 100 options.

The report states that, “Alongside the traditional male and female, these (other genders) include: pangender, polygender, androgyne, demigirl, demiboy, agender, gender non-conforming and non-binary.”

The report raises some interesting facts to consider.

Binary spokeswoman, Kirralie Smith points out, “All of the ‘other’ options need to be defined in the context of male or female, they simply don't make sense otherwise.” Smith also commented that, “All options, besides male, female and the very rare intersex option, are based on feelings not facts. Most Australians would not even be able to define most of the options if asked.”
