This week the Tasmanian upper house will vote on a bill to abolish gender.
This law would set a very dangerous precedent.
If the bill is passed:
- A baby’s biological sex won’t be recorded on their birth certificate or on the Register of Births, Deaths and Marriages
- Anyone 16+ will be able to change their gender and name just by signing a statutory declaration – no parental consent required
- Individuals may be fined of $3,000 for “misgendering” someone
The consequences this would have for child safety and women’s rights are unthinkable.
The upper house may decide on this bill as early as Wednesday.
NOW is the time to take URGENT action – by emailing the Tasmanian upper house members who will vote on this bill.
