1984 has arrived. A UK mother has been arrested for thought crimes.

State-sanctioned censorship and police intimidation has reached new heights in the UK.

A woman has been arrested for using the wrong pronouns on Twitter.

The Daily Mail reports, “A mother was arrested in front of her children and locked up for seven hours after referring to a transgender woman as a man online. Three officers detained Kate Scottow at her home before quizzing her at a police station about an argument with an activist on Twitter over so-called 'deadnaming'. The 38-year-old, from Hitchin, Hertfordshire, had her photograph, DNA and fingerprints taken and remains under investigation.”

The police also took her phone and laptop. Neither item has been returned despite two months passing since the arrest.

Scottow has been accused of “malicious communication”. There is no report of threats or violence, only that she mis-gendered someone and used their previous name.

“This is quite alarming,” said Kirralie Smith, spokeswoman for Binary. “Being arrested for stating biological, scientific facts is beyond comprehension. Ideological disagreements should not lead to arrest, confiscation of personal property or intimidation by the police. Being banned from social media platforms is one thing. Being arrested for sticking to facts is ridiculous.”

Smith added, “It is clear there is a concerted effort by activists to shut down debate, and to not only silence dissenters but to ensure they are penalised as well. They are hoping to deter others from entering this space. Binary intends to stand firm and ensure these issues continue to be aired in public forums.”
